Hurdles, Road Blocks, and Obstacles
Lately I have felt like the forces of the universe have aligned to work against me and keep me from working out, and it has been quite frustrating! Just as I felt motivated to get back in gear, my oldest cat collapsed and has required pretty intense care, feeding him, bathing him, doing everything for him and hoping his treatment will help him get better. He’s been my sidekick for 13 years, and I’m in no way ready to say good-bye to him, but I won’t make him suffer just so I can say he is still with me. He seems to be getting better, so I am hoping and praying he keeps improving.
I already mentioned the newborn kitten that Gary found. We bottle fed the little baby but soon realized we can’t give her the care she needs when both of us need to be at work during the day, so the kitten is being fostered by a wonderful volunteer through the Humane Society. She calls me with updates, and so far, so good. Considering how tiny the kitten is, and the fact she was soaking wet lying in a ditch when Gary discovered her, the Humane Society said it’s amazing she is still alive. I like that she is such a fighter!
That, and so much else going on, has eliminated my “me” time, but somehow I have managed to lose weight the past two weeks instead of gaining, probably because I’ve been eating less. No time, too stressed to eat. Not the healthiest way to drop a few pounds, though, so I am committing to picking it back up this week.
Yesterday was crazy busy, but as soon as I started making excuses to skip a workout, I changed clothes, laced up my sneakers, and grabbed a workout DVD. I’m not going to even give that self-defeating, “do it tomorrow” voice any attention anymore. Instead of excuses and lame head games, I am going to keep my goals in mind, imagine how I want to feel as I step off the plane to visit my family this Christmas, and remember that my list of priorities absolutely needs to include ME.

COngrats on the weight loss and for JUST DOING IT on the workout
Good for you!
So sorry to hear about your cat…hope he continues to improve. As for Wonder-Kitty…how awesome…glad she is doing well
Have a great week MJ!!
Wonder Kitty, I like that
Sorry to hear about your kitty, I hope all will be well. It is so easy for us to lose focus on ourselves. You can do it!

so glad that you are continuing on even when the road gets rough! I am so sorry to hear about your sweet cat…I am also glad to hear that the little one your found is still doing ok! You are still Wonder Woman! I don’t know how you fit it all in
I had a week where I felt like everything was against me getting in a workout but look at you! You managed to still pop in that workout dvd and just do it. That was more than I could say I did. Keep up the hard work and try not to stress too much on the things in life you have no control over.
Bless your man for stopping and getting that kitty. Some people would just walk away.
As for your kitty, I sure hope the meds and care help him to get better.
Look at it this way, if you can still make time somewhere to workout during all this stress and activity, then you know you can do it on normal days. Good for you girl, so proud of you!!!
You bet! There is no woman like you, there is only you! Get that time for yourself, lady and use it well! Hope everything gets calmer in the feline world
Great attitude. I need to stop listening to that I’ll do it tomorrow voice. I’m hoping your cat gets well.
