#$%@$# Hot Dog

Talk about temptation!  I swear the place I work is the worst place to try to lose weight.  Today we had an outdoor party, and they had the grill going with hamburgers and hot dogs.  The smell was driving me nuts!  I wanted a hamburger so bad, but I just picturing all the fat and calories sticking to my body long after I finished eating.

I chose a hot dog with just ketchup instead, thinking it was a better choice.  Not much better, if at all.  When I looked it up on CalorieKing.com, a large hot dog and bun is 375 calories!  Holy crap.  And I was still hungry afterward, so I had popcorn (130 calories) too.  Damnit.  I should have stuck with the lunch I had packed, but everything smelled so damn good!

The good news is, there was a huge stack of gigantic chocolate chip cookies at the end of the table, and I flat-out refused to take one of those.   And I drank an entire bottle of water with my hot dog.

So far for the day I am in at 1475 calories, more than I usually consume.  Damn hot dog :)  According to this calorie needs calculator, I need 2000 calories a day.  That seems like a LOT!  I need to factor in my workouts, though, and some of them are pretty intense now that I’m getting back into the swing of things.

I have no point to this post except that I want so bad not to mess up my progress so far, so I tend to overanalyze what I eat, especially if it strays from my meal plan.

Just 2 weeks ago, I’d have plowed into the hamburgers and cookies until I was stuffed, and I wouldn’t have worked out when I got home.  Today I will be doing a pretty tough weight training workout.  Hot dog or not, I am very proud of changes like that!

LOL I love hot dogs and could not have resisted!!! But I think I have you beat!!! I am in charge of raising money for a charity my workplace donates to every Christmas, so in order to do that I am selling snacks to the employees. The bad thing about it is that I have at all times, donuts, little debbies, chips, sodas, crackers, and other REALLY BAD stuff on my desk at all times. AT ALL TIMES! LOL I hate it! I have no idea how I haven’t gained 50 pounds! I hate a little debbie today… Fudge round, 300 calories! Don’t beat yourself up over a hotdog! LOL :)

    Hey girl,
hang tough, you havent done any damage. Think of how many calories it takes to gain a pound and your no where near that. So, in the long run, the hot dog is no problem.
    Have a great day!

LMAO!!!! Burgers aren’t too bad. Depends how big and what goes on. I have them sometimes. I would have probably had a cookie too. I’m proud of you for not giving in! Way to go!

I’m not terribly worried about it anymore after the workout I just finished! I pushed myself hard and will be quite sore tomorrow!

Everything in moderation. It sounds to me like the extra calories probably put you closer to what you should be eating. It also sounds like you are doing really well. So don’t be so hard on yourself. Congrats on saying no to the cookie. That must have been hard. So give yourself the credit you deserve.

Yeah I don’t think that hot dog is too bad. You know saying no to those cookies saved you a lot of cals and fat, I bet one cookie was like 400 cals…

Bahahaha ! I LOVE ur blog title ! I dont think that total for the hotdog is BAD at all ! I myself, watched the BBC show U r what you eat about 6-9 months ago and have sworn off the hotdogs since ;) They showed a buckey full of freshly cut up pig parts and showed wat a little baby hotdog actually is before the grinder. Let’s just say seeing it was enuf to keep me away from them for life ! Tomorrow is a NEW day ~~~

I totally sympathize with people who’ve got food-addled workplaces! We have monthly potlucks in our office, and there’s usually a ton of cake, chips & guac (my favorite!), deviled eggs, potato salad, etc. Usually I take a little bit of everything, with more of the healthier options. It’s rough, though, ’cause it’s in the kitchen the rest of the day! I say, good job on the yummy hot dog, then leaving it at that! :-)
