Running Again, and One Pound Gone!
I love running, but I absolutely do NOT love running in the cold. If I need more than a light warm-up jacket, then it’s time to do a workout DVD in the nice, warm house. So I haven’t gone running in what feels like forever, but this morning it was beautiful outside, I had to get up early anyway, and I decided there was no time like the present to get back into the swing of running. It’s hard to get back into running after a break, so I told myself I’d be satisfied with 20 continuous minutes. I ended up running for 31 minutes and was pretty proud of myself for trying, for hanging in there through the pains of starting again, and for pushing myself. The worst time is the first time back, and now that’s over with!
More good news: I weighed in this morning, and I lost a pound! Normally I’d feel let down with a one-pound loss, but I’ve been struggling so much, and gaining instead of losing, that I’m thrilled to see the scale moving in the right direction again! It’s funny, that one little pound has me so motivated and pumped up right now. Seeing a result, any result, makes me want more.
In review of this past week, I know what I did wrong:
- I skipped 2 workouts (damn time change…I had a hard time adjusting and my butt has been dragging!)
- I didn’t pack my lunch every day, and going out for lunch added way too many calories.
What I did right:
- I have been trading up my soda for water and unsweet tea.
- I pushed myself past a mediocre 30 minute cardio workout and have been shooting for an hour.
- I planned my workouts to make sure I fit them in.
- I came here to BuddySlim each day, even if I didn’t post a blog entry each day.
So, my plan for next week:
- NO skipped workouts!
- Getting to bed and getting up at the same time each day so I don’t feel so tired
- Cutting back even more on soda
- Keeping the food diary going
- Coming here each day for support and tough love, depending what I need
I am so excited about losing that pound. I keep laughing at myself about it, but after wrestling and fighting with myself for so long, to finally get it clicking again feels so good. Watch my ticker; it’s about to start moving down again!

I will be watching that ticker and holding you to your promise of it going down. Great job on your loss. Good job being proud of yourself too…a pound down is a pound down and you are right…if the scale is moving in the right direction than there is something to be proud of! Keep up the fantastic job!
Yay 1lb down that’s a great start to get you motivated to get running again

Wow, 31 continous minutes! That’s completely awsome! Hopefully the weather will cooperate and you can do more running outside. I love running outside myself… well, that’s from my whole of a week and 1 day experience that is. And great job on that pound. When you are that close, 1 pound is a huge deal!
