Happy Valentine’s Day!…Now Go Work Out

love2.jpg

Happy Valentine’s Day to all my buddies!  Last night Gary and I wrapped in a blanket and snuggled on the porch swing for as long as our butts could hack the uncomfortable wooden seat :)  We had a rare treat this morning, sleeping in together, since it was raining and I didn’t even consider going running.

Valentine’s Day is one of my least favorite holidays, because it celebrates commercialism and an artificial romance novel style of “love” that is not realistic.  If you love someone, you should celebrate that love every day, not just a Hallmark-endorsed day of spending and pressure and expectations.

Our gift today is being together and knowing we rose above the negative and hateful people who have tried to keep us apart.  Our gift is holding each other, joking with each other, being able to talk about anything from religion to politics to everything in between and respect each other enough to hear each other.  Our gift is a love that I am so grateful to have found: my best friend and my lover wrapped up in one man.

Since I skipped running this morning, I hit Exercise TV this afternoon and did 30 minutes of cardio.  Later Gary and I are going to lift weights together, then make dinner together.

Just because it’s a holiday, no slacking!  If you haven’t worked out yet, I hope you have a plan to fit some exercise in sometime today.  Valentine’s Day is a perfect day to give yourself the gift of exercise, movement, sweat, and another step to a healthier, stronger body.  And if your loved one joins you, so much the better!

Beautiful testimony to you all’s love! Yes, I did 50 minutes of BL yoga this morning, and then moved alot of boxes. Then as soon as I get off here, I will do 150 crunches. My bf is out of town visiting his daughter, but I am liking the peace and quiet. You have an awesome day!

What a beautiful blog to read! Happy couples are a joy to meet. They reinforce the value of true love, togetherness with mutual giving and sharing, and unselfish caring. Thanks for this incredibly wonderful blog, even if I read it and responded a day late!

Haha, so very true! Amen to that hun! I agree with you fully. You should show how much you love each other every day and not just one day because society says so. I’m glad you two had a great weekend and it’s so sweet that Gary does workout with you and helps make dinner with you! Cooking together is fun.
